Top 4 Project Management Tools For Startups in 2021

matrix-project-management-tools

Startups are getting more and more popular, but without the right tools, they can be a nightmare to run. Every startup has a different story, but most share one thing in common: they need to get work done. They are often small and lean on their resources so it’s important that they use the right tools for each project.

Project management tools can be super helpful for managing projects, especially if you are a startup. These programs help you keep track of your progress while working on a specific project or task at hand. They are also great for collaboration because they allow people from different locations to communicate seamlessly in real-time without having to worry about timing or scheduling conflicts.

There are many options out there and it can be hard to know which one is best for your business.

This post will be looking at four popular tools:

  1. Trello
  2. Monday
  3. Asana
  4. Notion

I will share what its best features are and some things it could do better for each one. So without further ado, let’s get started!

1. Trello

Trello is a collaboration tool that organizes your projects into boards. Checklists, text, and visual cards will help you to break down complex processes into smaller tasks. Apart from this, it allows you to work collaboratively from anywhere with an Internet connection. In addition, all activity in Trello is logged and searchable, which is a great feature if you want to see what has been done or what remains to be accomplished.

What I like about Trello

I love Trello’s simplicity. It allows you to get things out of your head and into a shared space that everyone can see. It is especially helpful if you have people working remotely or several different departments involved in one project.

What I don’t like about Trello

You cannot customize the look of boards and columns, which makes visualizing information very difficult. You can assign custom icons, but that’s it.

Additionally, each card is limited to a maximum of 12 checklists and you cannot move cards between columns while dragging and dropping them. If you want to work on two or more lists at the same time, they need to be in separate columns.

2. Monday

project-management-tools-monday.com

Monday is a project management tool that improves collaboration by providing real-time updates and instant messaging within an intuitive web application interface. It enables users to create projects and tasks in under 60 seconds. In addition, Monday.com employs artificial intelligence to manage and prioritize information in a user’s inbox based on how important, “hot,” or unread the email is.

What I like about Monday

I love that Monday is web-based. I don’t need to download any software to use it, and all my data is stored online. Another thing I love about it is how easy it is to get started. You can have a basic account set up within minutes.

This is great for startups because it helps them save time and money on software, which they can use elsewhere in their business.

What I don’t like about Monday

It’s not very visually appealing, especially if you aren’t a huge fan of web apps. The interface uses a lot of text, but very little images or color to help break up the information. It’s also a bit chaotic when you first open it. There are a lot of different things going on, with no clear instructions about how they all work.

3. Asana

This project management tool is designed to help people work together and get things done faster, better, and more seamlessly than ever before. It allows teams to collaborate in real-time on a single platform from any device. It also makes it easier for managers to stay on top of projects and delegate work to their teams in a way that fosters productivity, teamwork, and efficiency.

What I like about Asana

I like how Asana has a task tracking app. This helps me to manage my projects on the go. I also love that it’s easy to communicate with others in real-time from anywhere as long as you have an Internet connection.

What I don’t like about Asana

The way it is laid out can be confusing, especially for new users. Finding and setting up tasks is easier said than done. While a lot of functions can be used without signing up or being logged in, a lot of important features are only available for premium users.

Notion

As a project management tool, Notion helps you create and manage projects like Trello or Microsoft Project so you can stay organised on every part of your business. It includes smart inboxes for external services such as Google Drive, Dropbox, and Slack. It also has a powerful search that makes it easy to find anything from notes to images.

What I like about Notion

I like how Notion allows me to customise the app to fit my needs better. The way it is set up makes it easy to find information with its advanced search feature and different ways of organising your data.

What I don’t like about Notion

It’s quite pricey, which makes it difficult for startup founders who want many features but can’t afford them all.

Final Thoughts

Each project management tool has its own unique approach to organising your projects, each with its pros and cons. My recommendation is Monday.com. It has made project management fun for me.

I can keep track of my team’s progress, and they like the feature that lets them know if their project is due anytime soon. In addition, it has made communication easier among my team members. I think it’s a great start for small teams that need to collaborate on their various projects.

Giovanni & his team have been absolutely great. They started by setting up our web analytics stack. We now have full visibility of activation and acquisition events on Google Analytics. This has enabled us to make data driven decisions based on the performance of our digital marketing activities. They’ve also drafted a Marketing Automation Strategy which will play a key part in reducing drop offs in our acquisition flow. Finally, they have been working on Paid Acquisition Testing on LinkedIn and Adwords. Ambie is looking forward to carry on working with them in the following months.
